Everyone at Youth Cancer Trust would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Neighbourly and the JD Sports Foundation for their generous grant of £5,000.
The funding will enable five young people living with and beyond cancer to attend a therapeutic wellbeing holiday at the charity’s Dorset retreat.
Youth Cancer Trust provides therapeutic wellbeing holidays and online support for young adults aged 18 and over who were diagnosed with cancer before the age of 30. The holidays offer the opportunity to step away from the challenges of treatment and recovery, connect with others who understand their experiences and rebuild confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
“Being able to meet others my age in a similar position has made me feel much less alone.
I have made lovely friends that I would have never had the opportunity to meet and bond so quickly with without the retreat.”
The impact of cancer on young people often extends far beyond medical treatment, affecting mental wellbeing, relationships, education, careers and confidence. Funding such as this helps ensure more young people can access vital emotional support, friendship and respite when they need it most.
Every wellbeing holiday is fully funded for guests, making grants and community support essential to the charity’s work.
On behalf of all our staff, volunteers, guests and supporters, thank you once again to Neighbourly and the JD Sports Foundation for helping make these life-changing experiences possible.
